Why would my available balance be much lower than actual balance?

So, here is the scenario. I am checking my checking account online. My actual balance (showing pending items and all) is around $400... but at the ATM and as an available balance it says $267.54? Everything I've purchased within the last few hours are shown as pending or have posted. What does this mean?|||It probably means that they are holding $132 of deposits that you have made for whatever period of time it takes them to verify collection. Bank often set arbitrary time limits for a deposited check to be available to withdraw.|||The differences between actual and available balances are the recent transactions you made. It takes several hours (or till next business day) to actually transfer the money, and until then, the money remains in your account, but it is "frozen" until formal payment procedure is done with all its checks and safeguards.

If you call the number at the back of the card, they can list the pending transactions.
